Earthquake Relief Effort

While Verrettes (where our sister parish is located) did feel the effects of the earthquake, the church and schools are still standing and the damage is minor compared to that which is being experienced in Port-au-Prince.  Here are e-mail messages from Fr. Murat, the pastor of Our Lady of the Nativity Parish (our sister parish):

I just came back home from the mountain. I went to the mountain visiting
people, celebrating sacrement, organizing meeting in my schools with parents
principals and teachers... Please, take your time to open my attach to have
an idea about my pastoral field....and damages in the mountain in my parish area...
: in Descombes children increase at school the same in Damier, Haut Bassin and Allaire
I oblige to hire new teachers and hire new teachers more money to pay the same
: take new children from Port-Au-Prince at school need more food, that means all data change...
I do not really know how many new students in the Town of Verrettes...
but, I'm still working to do the best I can to support people in need,...

Have a good Lent!
Fr Murat DORCENT, Verrettes.

Dear friends,

No school during the last month in Haiti because of the earthquake and the mourning day declared by the state leaders...
 Finally, school will open today...

In our school in Allaire, We open all doors for children who come from Port-au-Prince with- out paying school fees, only to help them to end this year...
And We ask for all schools principal in Verrettes to do the same...

 Peace!
 Fr Murat

(New) Dear my friends,

How are you, your community and activities?

My communities and I, after earthquake are soso...

I send this present e-mail to you to inform you about lunch program and schools damages...I have started during the past week with lunch program as you do know no school in January in Haiti, and the situation becomes worst....Principals, teachers and I decide to give food at school four days a week...

In our schools in Allaire and Damier, the walls have some cracks and in Descombes, according the sexton and teachers there are some crack too and we can not  let children get into some classrooms..

the little school in Haut Bassin has some  damages too...I'll go to visit Descombes this next weekend...

Fr Murat

Following is an email communication from Father who recently made a purchase for school lunches with the funds we wired to him.

 Dear my friends,

Thanks so much again for thinking of us.  We do not lose children in secondary school in Port-au-Prince during the past disaster...But all who did die in the last disaster in Port-au-Prince were our brothers and sisters because we're all humans being in the land... sons and daughters of one God!

After waiting food for lunch program from the store, finally yesterday I did get it and all in storage at St Robert trade school, I wait the end of the mourning day declared by the state before starting lunch program...do not be worried, I can not do what I can with... and more, I have more children to feed, I do trying to see how to use it for responding at this commitment... " FEED OUR CHILDREN "

Food in storage pictures attachments

ONE MORE, IN THE NAME OF MY PARISH AND MYSELF I THANK YOU!
MY BEST WISHES TO YOU ALL!

FR MURAT, VERRETTES.

1/18 - "Thanks so much for thinking of us at this soorrow moment in the life of my country...All nations think and try to see how to support Haiti and plus specially the United States of America... How is great when the love of God!!!  Fresnel is fine, Sr Josefa too, Ido not hear from Vladimir, I know is fine too...About the student in secondary school in Port-Au-Prince, I met some but I do not know really who in our program...

I celebrate from time to time funerals included Sunday morning and afternoon...

I'd like to take opportunity to let you know at this moment, I try to support some people, in the name of the church...because people from Port-Au-Prince come empty hand, people in the hospital no food... no clothes...

As you ask for me, I'm no more plan after easter because of this disaster...

Once again, thanks so much for your prayer..."
